Grab your partner and head across to New South Wales in the Sydney Airport car rentals known for their great rates and indulge in a romantic getaway – February is the perfect time for this kind of trip.
Darling Harbour is aptly named to host this month-long celebration and here you can enjoy a range of events guaranteed to have your heart aflutter.
Here are a few examples of the kinds of events you can partake in during this celebration.
Leave a message of love
As you take a leisurely walk along the ‘Avenue of Love’ from Harbourside down by the Convention and Exhibition Centre Forecourt, make sure you grab some chalk and create an ode to your loved one.
There are sure to be plenty of people declaring their love down here, and you might even spot a proposal or two!
Smooth Fm love song serenade
What kind of love month would it be without some music? From 6 p.m daily, with the exclusion of Sunday February 16, you can stroll down Sydney’s most romantic bridge – the Pyrmont Bridge – accompanied by the sultry tunes of the world’s greatest love songs. If you want to, you could even have a dance.
Tickle me Pink
Get cosy with your loved one, your bestie or your entire family on the village green, as this location is set to host luminous displays and screenings of romantic films throughout the month.
The ‘loved up’ hearts display will take place from February 1 – 14, except on Mondays, and from February 15 until March 1 you can view the beautiful rainbow display.
Treat your loved one to a romantic antipasto platter for two and you can enjoy a delicious range of cheeses, olives, marinated vegetables, cured meat and bread while you take in all the displays have to offer.
Sparkling Hearts
Darling Harbour will be home to a giant red heart all month, so why not see if you can find it. It represents the perfect place to stop for a photo op to remember your romantic getaway, or why not try to steal a kiss under the moonlight?
‘Loved up fireworks’
Snuggle up to your loved one as the sky over Cockle Bay is lit up with heart-shaped fireworks.
If you really want to make this the trip of a lifetime, you can buy a personalised firework message to be displayed on one of the nights – what a special way to pop the question!
There are many opportunities to see them throughout the month of February.
Row boat of love
Jump on board with a unique and incredibly romantic chance to hire a row boat made for two and travel around Cockle Bay, under the glow of a setting sun and the romantic sight of twinkling stars reflected on the water.
If you want to have a go at this great adventure, make sure you either pre-book online or head to the Darling Harbour Marina ahead of time.
Love on the rooftops
The Australian National Maritime Museum will host a display sure to catch your heart on fire. So, take a moment to take in the view of hearts and rainbow projections on its rooftop from Valentines Day to March 1.
Little Black Dress Run
Pop on your best LBD and some high heels and head down to join in the Sydney Frontrunners’ 14th annual Little Black Dress Run, which aims to raise funds for the Sydney Hospital’s Camp Goodtime, a charitable organisation that supports children and families living with HIV/AIDS.
