Australia is the “Best Country in the World” according to a recent survey conducted by Ultratravel UK.

The devoted readers of this popular UK travel magazine ranked our country above New Zealand, South Africa, the United States and even Italy as their preferred holiday destination.

The UK is and has for a long time been one of Australia’s “most established and largest source markets for international visitors”. Approximately 593,600 visitors made the trip Down Under last year, investing a total of $2.9 billion into the local economy.

It is expected that the UK’s love affair with our fair land will continue to grow in years to come, with Tourism Australia predicting that their welcome custom will be worth between $5.5 billion and $6.7 billion by 2020.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, we suggest you book your flights Down Under, organise a Brisbane Airport car hire, and take a trip around the scenic capital of Queensland.

The judges of this survey said that Australia has “much to offer the luxury traveller”.

Notable mentions were the Kimberley region’s safari-style camps, our unique and often odd-looking wildlife, the 15,000 golf courses that are scattered all over the country and our myriad award-winning chefs.

And, of course, there’s the rugby.

Tourism Australia’s managing director Andrew McEvoy said the timing of this announcement “couldn’t be better”.

He revealed that “between 20,000 and 25,000 avid rugby fans” from the UK are set to invade our shores within the next few weeks “for the eagerly awaited British and Irish Lions Tour”, and the survey result could encourage even more people to join the invasion.

Whether you’re from the UK or not, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to see the best-of-the-best battle it out on the rugby field.

Three Test matches against Australia will be taking place in Brisbane on June 22. Seats are selling out fast so, after you have booked your car rentals Brisbane wide, make sure you book your Lions Tour tickets!
