June is the perfect month to take a trip to Adelaide.

The fifth-largest city in Australia, Adelaide is a thriving metropolis that is hosting a cultural event that has to be seen to be believed.

It’s called the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, and this year it’s running from June 7 to 22.

You may be familiar with the term “cabaret” because of the 1972 Liza Minnelli film. If you’re not, you’re in for a treat!

Cabaret is a style of entertainment that can involve drama, music, comedy, singing or dancing. The factor that separates a cabaret performance from any other kind is the fact that it takes place in a bar, cafe or restaurant.

Performances are usually targeted at adult audiences, so the Adelaide Cabaret Festival might be a trip you make without the kids.

They will be held in trendy venues all over the city – so an airport car hire Adelaide wide will definitely come in handy.

If you’re staying in sunny Victoria, you could organise a car rental Melbourne wide and turn your Cabaret Festival experience into a fabulous road-trip. It’s only a seven-hour drive, and what’s a few kilometres of road between cabaret-loving friends?

We like the sound of the “Leading Ladies of Cabaret”, a show that will be taking place on June 19 and 20 at the Backstage Club. It’s for an adult-only audience, and promises to involve lots of high-kicks, dancing and roving entertainment.

The world premiere of Paul McDermott’s stage show, The Dark Garden, will also be taking place on June 19 at the Festival Theatre Stage. This will be an emotionally charged evening of unforgettable music and wildly funny storytelling – what more could you want?
