If you love to laugh, Sydney is definitely the place to be this week!
From October 16 to 20 (Wednesday to Sunday), ‘Just for Laughs’ is being held at the Sydney Opera House. This festival contains some world-class comedic talent and is guaranteed to split your sides.
This Friday (October 18), you can enjoy a couple of fun-filled hours in the company of Kathy Griffin. Even if you’re not familiar with this sassy comedian’s name, it’s more than likely you’re familiar with her body of work. This popular entertainer has been in movies and TV shows, including Suddenly Susan and Seinfeld.
Ms Griffin is no stranger to the stand-up stage, either, and we’ve been told that no topic is off-limits for this feisty red-head. She promises to deliver non-stop laughs, and with tickets from just $63.92, her show offers an inexpensive way to spend an evening in Sydney.
Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, perhaps best-known for their antics on ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?”, will be taking the Sydney Opera House’s stage from Thursday (October 17) until Sunday (October 20).
They will be doing what they do best, giving the audience a night of fantastic improvisational comedy. It’s common for Colin and Brad to invite people on stage to take part in the show, so make sure you wear something bright if you want to be picked!
This show has been selling out around the country, so organise some tickets quick-smart!
You should also stick around for Rob Schneider, who is only performing on Saturday (October 19) at 9.30pm. He’s a talented film actor, perhaps best known for his roles in ‘The Hot Chick’ (and practically all of Adam Sandler’s other movies, for that matter), as well as ‘Grown Ups’.
According to the ‘Just for Laughs’ official website, Mr Schneider has been writing jokes since he was a teenager – so you know whatever he shares with the audience this weekend has been many, many years in the making. You can grab tickets from just $47.92 per person – so what are you waiting for?
We’ve heard that Mr Schneider is thinking about moving to Sydney. You might want to clap and cheer really loud, so he decides to stay for good!
Finally, if you’re looking for some home-grown entertainment, you can check out the International Comedy Gala, which is being hosted by none other than Rove McManus. This is taking place on Saturday (October 19), and will give you a nice sampling of comedic talent.
This is the perfect option if you can’t make up your mind about who to see.
Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood will be present, as will Peter Helliar, Ryan Hamilton and Greg Behrendt. They will all be brought together by our very own Rove, who hasn’t performed in Australia for a shocking five years!
This is your chance to see if he’s picked up any new jokes during his stint in the United States!
We encourage you to begin or end your evening with a delicious meal at one of the many eateries attached to the Sydney Opera House. The Opera Bar, for instance, which is located on the Lower Concourse of this beautiful building, is an award-winning beer garden that offers fabulous views of Sydney Harbour.
Of course, if you’ve organised Sydney Domestic or Sydney International Airport car rental, you can visit restaurants that are a bit further afield – just make sure you’re back in time for the show to start!
