In order to make sure you get as much out of your holiday as possible, you should be considering a car hire Gold Coast wide with East Coast Car Rentals.

Swell Sculpture Festival

The Swell Sculpture Festival is a favourite among locals and tourists alike, and has been for the past 11 years.

This year it will be running from September 13 to 22, and will feature more than 50 sculptures created by the crafty hands of local, national and international artists.

These beautiful works of art will be erected along Currumbin Beach, a spot which is also popular for its excellent swimming, surfing and fishing opportunities.

So if your family doesn’t share your love of sculpture, there are plenty of other activities at Currumbin Beach that will keep them occupied and entertained.

Meanwhile, you’ll be basking in the glory of this open-air exhibition. You (and the 195,000 visitors that are expected to pay a visit) can smell the salty air while enjoying the weird and wonderful creations of some of the world’s most talented sculptors.

One of our favourite pieces from last year was Corey Thomas’s ‘Windman’ – an incredible bronze sculpture of a businessman, standing on a podium, with a windmill in place of his head.

There was also David McGuiness’s ‘Confederacy of Dunces’, which consisted of rows of illuminated cones. We’re not quite sure what it was supposed to represent, but it was certainly beautiful to behold on a starry night.

You should definitely return to the Swell Sculpture Festival at different times of the day, so you can appreciate these works of art in all levels of light. And don’t forget to take some amazing photos!

Bring on Spring

Broadwater Parklands is hosting a ‘Bring on Spring’ celebration, which is happening throughout September and ends on Sunday, October 6.

This family-oriented event has been running for the past four years, and sees Broadwater Parklands coming to life with music, movies and markets.

If you’re looking for fresh and delicious food, the ‘Produce by the Pier’ markets should be your first stop on Saturday.

Here, you will find amazing seafood and other local produce, as well as activities for the children to enjoy.

This coming weekend (September 15), the ‘Corvettes on the Coast’ charity fundraising is also taking place. You can spend some quality time with these magnificent muscle cars, which have travelled from far and wide to be at your side.

If you’re lucky enough to be in the Gold Coast on September 21, make sure you visit the ‘Bring on Spring’ celebration in the evening.

At 6.30pm, ‘Grease on the Great Lawn’ will be taking place. You can snuggle up with your significant other and relive the 1950s by watching ‘Grease’ on a huge screen beneath a canopy of stars.

To really give the evening an authentic feel, the film will be accompanied by a Rock ‘n’ Roll Milk Bar and a display of classic cars.

So organise your car rentals Brisbane & Gold Coast wide and get ready for these extraordinary events. We’ll see you there!
