This October (or should that be Oktober?), Brisbane will once again be hosting its wildly popular Oktoberfest.

So, pick up a car hire Brisbane wide and head over to the RNA Showgrounds between October 11 and 20 for some authentic German fun!

The RNA Showgrounds can be found at 600 Gregory Terrace, which is about a 10-minute drive from the CBD. Or, if you’ve just flown to the city, organise the car rental Brisbane International Airport & Domestic Airport travellers rely on and take the M7 for 20 minutes until you reach your destination.

Oktoberfest’s events are spread out over two weekends: October 11-13 and 18-20. We suggest you come to Brisbane for the entire 10-day stretch, and enjoy a bit of sightseeing in between all the Oktoberfest excitement!

Whether you’re in town for one or both weekends, you’ll have to opportunity to taste some delicious German food and listen to Deutschland’s finest traditional music. You can also enjoy hand-crafted beer – some of which, reveal the organisers, is made using 200-year-old recipes.

There will also be a Miss Oktoberfest Competition, which will pit Australia’s finest milkers against each other. They will be tested using “training udders” from Germany – which sounds like it’s going to be a strange spectacle.

Brisbane’s event was recently nominated as one of the top 10 Oktoberfests in the entire world – so you know it’s going to be good!

The organisers pride themselves on creating an “authentic” experience, transforming the RNA Showgrounds into a bustling marketplace with wine barrels for tables and entertainers – including Heidi the Yodeller – stringing their way through the crowds.

When we say crowds, we mean it. Approximately 35,000 people head to Oktoberfest in Brisbane each year, and with 2013’s event promising to be the “best one yet”, we think you’ll be sharing a stein or two with just as many people this time around!
