The end of 2017 is fast approaching, and it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to party your way into 2018. When you have a rental car in Australia, you can virtually make it anywhere in the country, but we think the following events are the best places to be.

If you don’t have plans for NYE 2017, start here and organise your adventure!

H2O Harbourside – Docklands, Melbourne

Melbourne is a magical place to spend New Year’s Eve. It’s the cultural capital of Australia, and there are so many fun, vibrant events going on that it’s hard to decide where to party. H2O Harbourside is a solid choice, with live music, a waterfront venue and an all-inclusive bar!

The $140 ticket gets you access to canapes and an open bar from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. so you can head into 2018 with a full belly and your dancing shoes on. Spend a little more ($180 ticket) for access to the VIP Room and you’ll have a more exclusive drinks list to choose from.

NYE Soiree – Victoria Park, Brisbane

A ‘New York, New York’ theme for this central soiree will excite everybody in your party. Dress fancy and head to Victoria Park for a market-style celebration. Tickets start at $149 and include a five-hour food and beverage package, exclusive fireworks display, New York-style market stalls, live music and roving performers.

This is a busy celebration, perfect for anyone looking to meet lots of new people before 2017 comes to a close. Take away a special memory of the last night of the year in a photo booth surrounded by your travel buddies and any new mates you pick up along the way. There are VIP group packages available as well to suit your larger adventuring party.

NYE Studio 54 Party – SkyPoint, Gold Coast

Celebrating from the highest point on the Gold Coast? Sounds like a proper party! SkyPoint is famous around Australia, and you could be right in the heart of Surfers Paradise experiencing the amazing views from the observation deck.

Beverages and canapes are included in the $195 ticket, plus there’s live music all night so you can groove away while the rest of the world just carries on hundreds of metres below. This is a truly special way to experience New Year’s Eve.

Harbour Party – Luna Park, Sydney

Ever wanted to celebrate NYE in a theme park? This is your chance! Bring out your inner child (sorry, this is an 18+ event for any actual children reading this) by partying the night away with food, drink, music, entertainment and, of course, rides open until 3 a.m.!

The night starts a little earlier too, if you really want to make the most of the opportunity to scream your lungs out as you fly around on a rollercoaster. Get there for the 6.30 p.m. gate time and start your fun-filled night.

Opera Gala – Sydney Opera House, Sydney

For those after a more reserved feel, the Opera Gala at the Sydney Opera House (and a performance of The Merry Widow) are great options this NYE. Say goodbye to 2017 with some of the best operatic performers in the country in one of the most iconic landmarks in Australia.

The performances are timed around the 9 p.m. fireworks show over the Sydney Harbour so you won’t miss any of the action. Grab a few drinks at the Opera Bar beforehand (and after) and watch the parties continue all over the city.

Wherever you end up this New Year’s Eve, make your holiday more independent with a hire car. For more information about getting into the right vehicle for your next Australian adventure, contact East Coast Car Rentals today.
