If you fancy yourself a bit of a runner you might want to head down to Brisbane in March for the 6th annual Twilight Run, where you can make tracks under the glow of the moon and stars.

Incidentally, this event will be the first major half marathon and 10km run in Queensland in 2014, making it a great inspiration for you to book a great deal on a Brisbane Airport car rental.

Held in St Lucia, this running festival features events designed to suit the whole family. Both you and the kids are sure to get a kick out of the exhilarating festival atmosphere.

The evening of March 23 will get off to a great start with the Race Pack Collection at the University of Queensland Athletics Track Oval beginning at 2 p.m. Here, participants can collect the complimentary packs that form part of the entry fee.

This year, those running a half marathon or the 10km and 5km events will receive their choice of a limited edition event singlet or visor.

Kids taking part in the 1km fun run will also receive a quick dry running visor as well as a finisher medal on completion of the race, which is a great way to encourage the next generation to get active and healthy from a young age.

Speaking of kids, there are plenty of other activities available to get them pumped and ready to race. The jumping castle and zorb balls should get them excited for what is to come.

For older participants, the twilight 5km run/walk begins at 4 p.m with the first finishers due back around 4.15 p.m.

The 1km kids’ run is due to begin around 4.45 p.m, giving parents enough time to complete a short race before heading back to cheer on their children.

Another option for adults is to begin the half marathon or the 10km run that both kick off at 5 p.m.

If you decide to run the 10km option, you may be back as early as 5.30 p.m provided you are speedy, but it is best to go your own pace on the track to avoid injury.

The first finishers of the half marathon won’t be far behind, and are due at around 6.10 p.m. If you want to take it slow and see if you can spot any famous constellations in the sky, there are a few pacer groups you can join.

These will allow you to enjoy the beautiful surrounds this two loop course has to offer. It runs alongside the Brisbane river and finishes in the University of Brisbane, under the glimmer of welcoming flood lights.

After completing this race, you will no doubt be in desperate need of a good night’s rest and relaxation. Organising Brisbane car rentals is one of the easiest way to head back to your accommodation!
