There are many places you can grab a bite to eat on the square. Arintji serves delightful dishes in an alfresco atmosphere with the Yarra River as a backdrop. If you want something more exotic, head to Bokchoy Tang where you will be served modern dishes such as steamed dishes, dumplings and seafood from the Chinese regions of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers. For a Mediterranean flavour, go to Cafe Chinotto where you can take your pick of wood-fired pizzas, pasta and salads.
There's sure to be something exciting happening here no matter when you visit. Federation Square is the home of more than 2,000 events throughout the year. These events are a mixture of cultural, with festivals, films, concerts, fashion shows and performances, as well as educational experiences and launches.
Some upcoming shows includes AMES Voices Without Borders and The Light in Winter. Taking place on June 16 from 1pm-2pm, this will be the ultimate choir musical extravaganza. The singers will perform for refugee week, their songs bringing hope and inspiration.
The Light in Winter is aptly named and promises to bring some colour and cheer to those cold days. The program includes art, performances and exhibitions that all revolve around the winter solstice. The festivities will take place from June 1 – 22, every evening from 5pm until late.
