Melbourne was elected the world’s most liveable city in the most recent Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Survey.
This is the third time in a row this bustling metropolis has gained the top spot, and it’s not hard to see why.
Minister for Planning, Matthew Guy, said that a number of factors have contributed to Melbourne’s winning streak.
These include its “vibrant multicultural community, a celebrated arts scene and world famous food and wine”.
So, what are you waiting for? Organise a car hire Tullamarine (Melbourne Airport) and take your family on a memorable holiday in the world’s most liveable city!
There’s no time like the present, either, because the city is preparing itself for the 2013 Melbourne Festival! This is being held from October 11 to 27, and is always the highlight of Victoria’s events calendar.
Minister for Tourism, Louise Asher, has revealed that the 2013 Melbourne Festival’s line-up includes something for everyone.
“The program will include a significant number of world and Australian premieres and Australian-exclusive performances,” she said in a September 5 statement.
If you are a huge fan of the theatre, make sure you hop in your Melbourne car hire and get your hands on some tickets for ‘Brief Encounter’.
This is a thought-provoking adaptation of ‘Still Life’, a play written by Noel Coward that has found fame and fans at the UK’s Kneehigh Theatre.
We also recommend heading along to the world premier of ‘Sun’. This is a brand-new performance that has been choreographed by Hofesh Schechter, and promises to amaze all who are lucky enough to see it.
There will also be music – and lots of it. Yo La Tengo will be performing live, as will Katia and Marielle Labèque (who are piano virtuosos from France).
