If you're looking for reasons to visit Sydney, it won't take long to realise there are many. This energetic and exciting city is often the location for a range of events. Here are four taking place this October.

Auto Obsession

Now-October 26

Love cars? This is the perfect event for you. There will be more than 25 restored and original historic cars featured at the Powerhouse Museum at 500 Harris Street with a blurb about the car and its significance.

This is also a great opportunity to learn more about the automotive history in Australia, with iconic cars including the 1955 FJ Holden, 1965 Ford Falcon XP and 1970 Chrysler Valiant Regal VF on display. There are also vehicles such as the 1964 Lightburn Zeta runabout, that are less well known but have interesting and amusing back stories.

Along with rare, significant and fascinating models, there will also be what is thought to be the largest Matchbox car collection in the country.

Dangerous and Deadly Wildlife

Now-October 31

Treat your kids to a wild time at this event. Did you know Tasmanian Devils have the strongest bite of any animal their size and when faced with a threat, they will yawn to give the impression they aren't intimidated? (i did not know that) Learn more about the Tasmanian Devil and so many more animals and insects found in Australia.

There are many highlights such as the live feeding of the Scrub Python, which comes in at five metres long, the chance to see venomous insects and spiders under microscopes and to meet the largest and most dangerous crocodile in the country.

A special Halloween twist makes this attraction all the more exciting. On the weekends of October, you can trick-or-treat with your kids, gathering sweet treats while you encounter a range of creepy creatures.

Head on over to Aquarium Wharf at Darling Harbour. Travelling with a car hire? Cheap parking is available for as little as $6 a day at secure and economical Wilson Parking locations.

Wicked: The Musical

September 20-October 30

Get in quick if you want to see this show as tickets are running out fast! It's hardly surprising seats are getting snapped up, with this musical quickly making its way to the theatre hall of fame. The New York Times has dubbed it "the defining musical of the decade".

Based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the story follows Glinda and Elphaba. The events show events prior and during the classic film The Wonderful Wizard of Oz from the perspective of the witches, giving a unique twist to the classic tale.

The stage show, taking place at the Capitol Theatre, is nothing short of awe-inspiring and will make for a spectacular inclusion to your Sydney getaway.

Bondi Winter Magic

Now-October 31

If you've never experienced Bondi in the cooler months, it truly is something special. There are restaurants, cafes, bars, walks, markets and a whole heap of events that make this spot a must-visit.

A real highlight is the ice rink. In front of the Bondi Pavilion, the beachside ice rink is where you can have great fun with your friends or family. If you're travelling with kids, the IcePALS penguins can help them get their bearings on the ice. Sessions run from 10am-9pm.

The Bondi Markets have been welcoming visitors and locals alike since 1993. On Sunday from 10am-4pm this is a great chance to pick up designer goods, see what local artists are creating and pick up some vintage pieces. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the stalls vibrant and varied, making this the perfect spot to spend your Sunday.
