Sometimes you just want a great coffee, is that too much to ask? Not when you're in Adelaide. This spacious and bright city is home to some wonderful cafes where you can satisfy your coffee craving.
The Organic Market and Cafe
At this cafe you can eat on the verandah or under the trees in the gorgeous garden. This is the perfect place for people interested in organic food and sustainability, those who love flavoursome and light meals, and great coffee. The Vittoria 'Nero' coffee is strong and Italian, whereas the Vittoria 'Organic' blend is more mild and utterly smooth.
Do you have a tea drinker in your midst? There is a great selection for them, too. The English Breakfast, Earl Grey and Darjeeling teas are all organic, and the Sencha is a lovely organic Japanese green tea, as is the Rose Moscato green tea.
Find the cafe on 5 Druid Avenue Stirling – this is just a short drive from the city, and if you're getting around in a hired car there are plenty of parks on the street, and if they're full you'll find free local carparks. The cafe is open from 8:30am-5:00pm every day, and the market's open until 5:00pm.
Red Door Bakery
Gareth and Emma Grierson love good bread and coffee, so they created a space where you can get both, as well as a rustic, homey and elegant atmosphere.
Top quality local ingredients are combined with traditional artisan baking to create delicious treats and dishes that have been prepared with love. There are whole list of classic and delightful foods to try, including the hand rolled sour dough, panini, the chorizo and caramelised onion bread stick and pizza slices.
The coffee is totally organic, blended and roasted in small batches. This helps to ensure consistency and quality, so you'll get a mouth-watering cup every time. Tony D'Angelo is the in-house coffee roaster, and he has certainly earned the reputation for being somewhat of a coffee god.
The bakery and cafe is open every Wednesday to Sunday from 8am-4pm on Elizabeth Street in Croydon, the northern suburb.
Hey Jupiter
For all things cool, vintage and delicious, head to Hey Jupiter. With amber glass lampshades, fern hanging plants, old jugs filled with fresh flowers and a wall of intricate mirrors, this eatery is casual and chic. Modern and vintage elements combine within this space.
The coffee is a real highlight of this cafe. They use Five Senses coffee, which is sourced, created and roasted to perfection with absolute care. This coffee is also seasonal, so you can try the latest and greatest blend when you visit. Along with your drink, get a hearty sandwich or tasty bowl of soup – you'll find the chef specials written on the mirrors.
The cafe is located in Ebenezer Place, behind Rundle Street in the East End of the city.
The Artisan Cafe
Here the coffee is a unique Artisan organic blend, served with Paris Creek organic bio-dynamic milk. Try a Vienna after your lunch or breakfast for a sweet treat. This is black or white coffee, topped with whipped cream. For those who are lactose intolerant, there are soy and lactose-free options.
Fancy something special? The liqueur coffees are divine, with a bit of a kick. Irish Fantasy comes with Baileys and Belgian chocolate, and the Monte Christo comes with a dash of Kahlua and Grand Marnier.
The food is also great, and is ethical, sustainable and eco-friendly. Every month, the cafe also features a local artist, so you'll be treated with the talents of the people of Adelaide.
The Artisan Cafe is on the Main Road of Blackwood, the eastern suburb in the foothills of Adelaide.
