Central City Library

Jump in the car, turn on the window wipers and head to Lorne Street in the CBD. Auckland Art Gallery

The Auckland Art Gallery houses local and international works over four floors as well as free Mandarin Chinese and English-language tours which start from the foyer on the Ground level at different times throughout the day. Tours last 60 minutes and are limited to 15 people.

Gloputt Mini Golf

Resident and visiting artists hold workshops and classes and exhibitions and events are ongoing. The estate's public gallery hosts contemporary art exhibitions by local and international artists as well as free public programmes including art workshops for kids, creative talks and exhibition tours.

Extreme Edge Panmure

Elevate your rainy day to new heights with a spot of indoor rock climbing. New Zealand's largest indoor climbing centre is in Panmure, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from both the airport and the city centre. Extreme Edge Panmure has ample room for both experienced and novice climbers as it's housed in a former aircraft hangar, which reaches heights of a four-storey building.

There are colourful themed climbing walls for the kids and around 200 routes to have a go at so park up your rental and spend the day conquering your fears.
