Sydney has a range of activities lined up for January and there is bound to be something to tickle your fancy!

The first month of the new year will see the annual Sydney Festival hit the city’s shores, and will run for three weeks starting on January 9. This means there is still plenty of time to organise your car hire in Sydney ahead of time.

Around 300 performances will hit the stage throughout the festival from roughly 1,000 different artists. Some of these events are free of charge, such as the concerts in the Domain or in Parramatta every Saturday.

The performances will be spread throughout the city, so organising the top car hire near Sydney Airport may help you find your way around more easily, and ensure that you do not miss out on any of these fun events! Get in touch with East Coast Car Rentals today to make your booking!

Catch a performance from the Sydney Symphony or partake in a circus extravaganza. Remember the heart of this epic festival will be in the CBD, which is where you’ll need to be if you want to see Paradiso at the town hall, or view the operatic masterpiece Dido and Aeneas at the Sydney Lyric.

This spectacular performance tells the illicit love story of a queen and a soldier. The show itself has been set underwater by Berlin choreographer Sasha Waltz, to add a hefty dose of dramatic flair. Come across to the Harbour City to watch dancers perform in a giant aquarium. They will be accompanied by music played by the baroque orchestra Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin.

You could also pop down to Hyde Park to have a look at the famous Spiegeltent, or ‘tent of mirrors’. This is a hand-hewn pavilion that is used as a travelling dance hall. It is made of wood, mirrors, canvas and leaded glass, and features beautiful detailing in brocade and velvet.

There are only a handful of these left in the world and the famous Spiegeltent is the last remaining Belgian one. It has spent its life travelling around the world to be a part of festivals. Not only that, It has even hosted its fair share of the world’s greatest musicians, circus burlesque performers and artists in its time.

Forming part of the Honda Festival Garden, this is the place to be if you want to enjoy music, theatre and culinary delights. The garden will feature many bars and other food outlets, and the Spiegeltent will be open every night of the festival with a different performance.

For a great night out, consider staying around the Garden and visiting the Festival Bar. Here you will be able to dance til you drop as a great collection of local DJs spin some tunes.
