Don't spend this winter season couped up indoors – get out and have some fun on a holiday to Brisbane! There are many upcoming events in this city that will be fun for the whole family. Even in winter, Brisbane is balmy, so if you feel like experiencing a snowy winter, head to Snow 4 Kids. This event that will take place from June 28 – July 15 and will be a fun-filled time for the whole family.
All about Snow 4 Kids
Snow 4 Kids sees the Riverstage at the Botanical Gardens transform into a wintry wonderland. Every day mounds of fresh snow are spread out over the area, so it feels like you've stepped into another world.
This event is perfect for younger kids – take along your children if they're under 14. The gates are open from 9am – 4pm every day and entry is free. If you want to take part on some of the special attractions, get a ticket for your child. Every kids ticket also includes entrance for one adult so you only have to buy one. Tickets can be purchased online or at the venue – get in quick to make sure you get the amount you want on your ideal day.
Once you get inside, your children can explore the attractions on their own, frolicking in the real snow with the other attendees.
Highlights of the park
The toboggan ride down the snow slope is a thrilling ride. Afterward your kid can build a snowman in the sun, complete with a scarf and branch arms, or try to hit inflatable snowmen with piles of snowballs.
The enormous snow dome is where the ultimate snowball fight takes place. It's also where the Silly Snow Men perform their live stage show, which runs throughout the day and will get your kids in fits of giggles.
There are also a whole host of games and activities that will continue the fun. Throughout the day, get your sustenance and warm up with a hot drinks and snacks, all available at the park.
Getting there and getting back
Don't forget to wear your waterproof clothes and bring something to change into – this way your ride back to your accommodation will be toasty warm.
Travelling to the venue in your Brisbane rental car is easy – you just need to find the Botanic Gardens. Parking is available near the Gardens Cafe, which is a very short walk to Riverstage. If all of these parks are occupied, go to South Bank and walk the short distance back over the Goodwill Bridge.
Other kid friendly activities at the gardens
If you want to make a day of your Botanical Garden experience, there are plenty of other family friendly things to do here. Slap on your sunscreen and listen to some stories with your kids at Storytime in the gardens, near the Fragrant Garden.
After, when their imaginations have been ignited, they can take to the nearby Hide 'n' Seek trail. Storytime will take place on every Tuesday at 9:30am – 10:00am during the same time Snow 4 Kids is on.
On July 9 – 10, the gardens will welcome the Far Out Forest school holiday festival which will incorporate an Animals Tail show, circus fun, wearable arts, games with a traditional Aboriginal flair and African drumming. This lively event will take you around the world and throughout different cultures, giving your kids yet another great holiday experience.
