Brisbane is all set to host the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival, which is taking place between August 25 and 31.

While some exclusive “invitation-only” events are being held as part of the festivities, there are plenty of sights and sounds that are open to the public. So, you may want to organise a Brisbane city car hire and get in on the action!

Day One

On August 25, a walking tour of the gorgeous Artisan gallery is taking place, and you can take part for just $80. Titled “Collaborations in Fashion”, this tour will give you a once-in-a-lifetime look at what can be created when some of the world’s top designers – including such iconic figures as Michael Zavros and Alison Kubler – work together.

A fantastic opportunity to get a glimpse of some masterpieces and their creative backstories, “Collaborations in Fashion” is a must-attend event for all lovers of fashion.

Day Two

QueensPlaza is hosting a High Tea on August 26 at the Brisbane Marriott Hotel, which costs $60 to attend. Here you will enjoy some delicate finger food and delicious hot beverages while you gaze at the latest trends to come out of the fashion stores of QueensPlaza.

If you’re inspired by what you see at the High Tea and want to undergo a little retail therapy, you may want to stop by QueensPlaza afterwards. Located in the centre of town, this up-market shopping centre will be easy to get to – provided you’ve chosen the car hire Brisbane Domestic Airport travellers choose for reliability and service, East Coast Car Rentals!

Just make sure you pick one that has lots of storage space for your copious shopping bags!

“The Myer Spring / Summer ’14 Fashion Show” is also being held on August 26, and will set you back just $52 per person. According to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Program, this spectacular runway event will feature pieces from a wide range of designers. These include Charlie Brown, Ellery, Jayson Brunsdon, Manning Cartell, Wayne Cooper and Cue.

Day Three

On August 27, all those who are interested in up-and-coming styles should attend the “Emerging Designer” show. It’s a little less pricey than the other events at $37, and you could be lucky enough to see the next-big-thing’s career take off if you attend.

The State Library of Queensland is also hosting a free event on August 26, where Queensland’s unique style will be discussed. Some of Australia’s most fashionable people, including Michael Zavros, will be here to give their opinions; you should decide what you think and go along!

Day Four, Five, Six and Seven

The next three days contain a blur of glitz and glamour, informative presentations and stunning fashion shows. A full list of events is available on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival website.

However, special mention must go to the famous Mercedes-Benz Highlights Parade and Wrap Party, which is taking place on August 30. This is actually open to the public (if you’re 18 or over, that is) and costs $145. This is your chance to walk amongst the beautiful people and celebrate another successful year of dazzling fashion.

After a spectacular parade showcasing the best pieces the Fashion Festival has produced, a two-hour party will take place. Here you will be treated to fancy food and quality cocktails, and may even get the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the world’s most fashionable figures.

If, however, you want to commemorate the week that was in your own … fashion, pop along to The Fashion Bar in King George Square’s forecourt and raise a glass to beauty and Brisbane!
