The Gold Coast is an aquatic playground. Unbroken beaches stretch for miles, and with never-ending sunshine and fantastic surf, it’s no surprise that people flock here from all over the world to enjoy watersports. Whether you’re after an adrenaline rush or a laid-back day at the beach, the Gold Coast has it all.
Here are our favourite watersports on the Gold Coast.
1. Jet ski
Hire a jet ski for an exciting way to explore more of the coast and satisfy your thrill-seeking urges. You can do a DIY tour of Gold Coast waters, or join a jet ski tour which will take you up and down the coast and around local islands. Either way, savour the feeling of pulling the throttle and seeing sun, sea and sky zipping by.
2. Parasailing
Get a different perspective on the Gold Coast and give parasailing a go. You’ll have your head in the clouds as you float above the waves, enjoying panoramic views of the spectacular coast. This isn’t for the faint of heart – you’ll reach dizzying heights above the water. There are solo or tandem rides available, so you can take a friend up with if you need a hand to hold.

3. Surfing
It’s not called Surfers Paradise for nothing – this Gold Coast beach is a great place to learn how to surf. There are several different surf schools to choose from so you will be able to find lessons that match your level and budget.
4. Stand-up paddle boarding
The popularity of this sport has exploded in recent years, and for good reason. Hop on board to paddle your way around calm Gold Coast waters, toning your abs and arms while enjoying the scenery! For an extra challenge, you can give stand-up paddle board yoga a shot.

5. Kayaking
A fun way to get out on the water and explore is to rent a kayak. Perfect for the whole family, kayaking is a tranquil way to enjoy the pristine water around the Gold Coast, and to get up close to marine life. Keep an eye out for tropical fish, stingrays and even dolphins.
Of course, before you hire a jet ski or surfboard, you might need to hire a car. Check out our great range of vehicles and feel free to get in touch with our helpful team if you have any questions.
