Terms and Conditions

Please read and accept these terms and conditions before requesting a reservation.


Area of Use

The area of use for vehicles is confined to the following regions;
(NOTE: By prior arrangement, these areas may be extended. This incurs an additional $10 per day for the duration of your rental. LRW must be taken by renters wishing to extend area of use.)

Cairns Region:

Cooktown - Cape Tribulation – Daintree – Port Douglas – Palm Cove – Cairns – Mission Beach – Innisfail - Townsville.

Brisbane/Gold Coast Region:

Bundaberg - Hervey Bay – Sunshine Coast - Brisbane – Gold Coast – Byron Bay - Ballina – Coffs Harbour -Toowoomba.

Melbourne Region:

All area covered by the state of Victoria (except snow zones).


Hirer's Liability

Liability Reduction Waiver (LRW)

East Coast Car Rentals Liability Reduction Waiver protects you against damage caused as a result of a Multi Vehicle accident where another vehicle can be fully identified and all details provided.

Premium Reduction Waiver (PRW)

East Coast Car Rentals Premium Protection Package protects you against damage caused as a result of Multi Vehicle Accidents(covered by LRW) plus Single Vehicle Accidents, Hail and Storm Damage, Animal Damage, Windscreens, Tyres and Headlight damage.

Under 25 Drivers

Drivers aged between 21 and 25 years of age (as of the last day of the rental period) are still entitled to hire. They are subject to an compulsory, additional $8.80 per day surcharge.


Holding Deposit

In most instances, we will accept a signed Credit Card imprint (by the hirer) as a security deposit, where the hirer is a corporate client, previous renter and/or has selected the LRW package. East Coast Car Rentals reserves the right to pre-authorise an amount up to the chosen excess, on the hirers card. Upon return and closure of the rental agreements, the imprint is destroyed and pre-authorisation cancelled.


Payment

Payment is made in full on collection.All rates are in AUD$. The use of American Express, Diners Club and JCB cards incur an additional 5% merchant surcharge. The use of Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard, Cash, Travellers Cheques or Eftpos have no additional fees.
NOTE: In all cases the credit card holder must be present upon the collection of the vehicle, be included on and sign the Rental Agreement. An additional driver/hirer fee will be charged.


Airport Arrivals

Brisbane Airports

Upon Arrival and Collection of luggage, please phone: 3216 4873.
Once notified, please allow ample time for the courtesy shuttle to collect you. Some unavoidable delays may occur during busy periods.

Domestic - Qantas/Jetstar Flights
Cross the pedestrian crossing near the "QANTAS ARRIVALS" sign to the Taxi Stand. Approx 10 metres to your RIGHT and past the Taxi Stand there is a sign "LICENSED OFF-AIRPORT OPERATOR PICK UP". Wait there for our East Coast Car Rentals Mini-Bus to collect you ,usually within 15 minutes after your call.

Domestic - VirginBlue Flights
Cross the pedestrian crossing at the front of the arrival terminal to the Taxi Stand. Approx 10 metres to your LEFT and past the Taxi Stand there is a sign "LICENSED OFF-AIRPORT OPERATOR PICK UP". Wait there for our East Coast Car Rentals Mini-Bus to collect you ,usually within 15 minutes after your call.

International Arrivals
Directly outside of the arrival terminal doors, turn left and you will see a sign reading 'Pre-Booked Ground Transfers'. Cross the pedestrian crossing and proceed down the ramp to the lower level and wait underneath the blue canopies for collection.


Gold Coast/Coolangatta Airports

Once notified, please allow ample time for the courtesy shuttle to collect you. Some unavoidable delays may occur during busy periods.

All Domestic and International Flights
Cross the pedestrian crossing at the front of the arrival terminal towards the short-term car park where you will see a Blue Ticket validation machine.Wait there for our East Coast Car Rentals Mini-Bus to collect you ,usually within 15 minutes after your call.


Cairns Airports

Upon Arrival and Collection of luggage, please phone: 4031 6055
Once notified, please allow ample time for the courtesy shuttle to collect you. Some unavoidable delays may occur during busy periods.

All Domestic and International Flights
Cross the pedestrian crossing to the Taxi Stand. Our staff will advise the type and colour of our pick up vehicle. Wait there for collection , usually within 15 minutes of your call. We also have Freecall courtesy phones in the arrival terminals located near most baggage collection points or located on Information Stands inside the arrival terminals.


Melbourne Airports

Upon Arrival and Collection of luggage, please phone: 9330 3529
Once notified, please allow ample time for the courtesy shuttle to collect you. Some unavoidable delays may occur during busy periods.

All Domestic and International Flights
Make your way out of the terminal towards the carpark, cross first lane of traffic to the medium strip collection area where the courtesy shuttle will collect you.


Hotel Collection (Local Only)

Please phone the collection location only when you are ready for collection. Advise Surname, Reservation Number and number of passengers requiring collection. Our courtesy collection is subject to staff availability, normally within 30 minutes and operates up until 1 hour prior to close.

NOTE: For all out of hours arrivals, please ensure sufficient funds are available on your credit card to pay the rental in full. The LRW and PRW packages must be accepted by all hirers collecting vehicles outside of office hours and for those who have not made this selection, these will be automatically added.


Cancellation Policy

7+ days notice - NO Cancellation fee.
24 hours to 7 days notice - $100 Cancellation fee. (This will be charged but you will be given an equal amount credit to your next rental)
Within 24 hours / No Show - Up to full cost of "estimate of charges".


Reservation Amendments

Confirmed reservations can be altered and are subject to availability. Changes to the length of rental may alter daily rates or any other specially discounted offers. Please advise staff on arrival if the 'return' date is to be different than that booked. If during the rental and extended hire is required, the hirer must contact our Reservations office on 07 5592 0444 between 8am and 5pm. Quote the 'U' booking number and Surname.
