One of the factors that contribute highly to Australia's annual road toll statistics is excessive speed. Posted speed limits are there to ensure that vehicles are traveling at a maximum safe speed for the area. They take in factors such as whether it is an industrial or residential area, any local hazards and the terrain and condition of the road.
The maximum speed in residential areas through out Queensland is 50km/h. On the open motorways this can increase to 110km/hr
Once again, American and European drivers need to note that this is kilometres per hour(km/hr) and nor miles per hour (mph)
