Driving in Port Lincoln

Based near the southern tip of the Eyre Penn insular, Port lincoln overlooks Boston Bay. Port Lincoln's main industries include the production of lambs, wool, beef, cereal crops (wheat, oats, barley, canola) and a wide variety of seafood such as Tuna, Prawns, Lobster, Abalone and scale fish.

When the region was discovered by Flinders in 1802 he lost 8 of his crew whilst they were searching for fresh drinking water. It was this scarcity that allowed Adelaide to become the fore runner and successful candidate as state capital of South Australia, in 1836.

Today, a lot of tourists that visit the area are keen fisherman and with plenty of rocky headlands and the many jetty's, all offering great catches, it is easy to see why. The locals tip is to ask at the bait & tackle shop on what spots are hot before dipping your line.
