Driving in Northern Territory

The Northern territory is the most barren region in all of Australia. Although home to less than one percent of the countries population, it is some 1.35 million square kilometres in area.

Best known for Ayers Rock (Uluru), the large monolith which is synonymous with Australian tourism, it also has other areas of interest to visitors such as Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. It is a land that is very precious to the Aboriginal communities and their time here dates back over 40,000 years. Although the area is also mineral rich and some mining is conducted, much of it is left untouched, protect by the treaties of land right.
