With its Promenade Broadwalk and Marina Village, Mackay has a tropical, beach side feel to it. In fact, as a jump off point to the Great Barrier reef it is often overlooked for the limitless activities and adventures that it harbours in its immediate surrounds.
Of course the water sports such as scuba diving and fishing are still amongst the most popular with visitors to the City, however the Botanic Gardens, Sugar Cane fields, Bush Walking and explorations of the Mining Trails have also come to the forefront of the tourists 'to do' list.
