Located at the sea mouth of the Gippsland Lake, Lakes Entrance is a fishing port that has become a very popular holiday destination in recent years. The long sand spits offer a contrast between the more choppy waters of Bass Strait and the calm and still waters of the lake.
For those not keen to feel the sand beneath their feet, the area is also home to some wonderful boutique vineyards, with many of the cellar doors open 7 days, serving light meals and offering a taste of unique wines and ports.
The main waterfront area itself has a wide range of restaurants to choose from, not surprising however, many of them are seafood cuisine serving the fresh produce caught that day.
