Not only is Cape York the most Northern Point in Australia, it also contains an abundance of undisturbed tropical rain forests and savannas, which have earnt it a nomination for World Heritage listing.
To the West lies the Gulf of Carpenteria and the East the Coral Sea. North across the Torres straight lies New Guinea, just 160km away. The entire area encompasses 137,000 square kilometres.
The Cape provides plenty of excitement for those who enjoy 4x4 treks, fishing and hunting ... although it should be left to the experience and certainly not in a normal rental car.
