Perth is the Capital City of Western Australia and also the States largest population base. Originally established as the Swan River Colony, given that it lies on the banks of the Swan River, it has been the seat of government ever since.

Perth’s history is one of conflict with the indigenous people, battle for inclusion in the Australian Federation of States and then a brief struggle for independence. It is Perth’s proximity to the surrounding mining areas, rich in Gold, Iron, Alumina etc, that has seen it become a major service area with almost all of the big international engineering and resource companies having an office there.

A sporting mad city, the region is represented in almost all major sporting competitions including the Super 14 Rugby Union (Western Force), AFL (West Coast Eagles), National Soccer League (Perth Glory) and Domestic Cricket (Warriors).
